Wolverhampton Cares Awards

The awards ceremony was on Friday 18th November 2022, and we are pleased to announce the winners

The Wolverhampton Cares Awards were a ceremony, sponsored by Wolverhampton City Council and their Wolverhampton Cares campaign, to recognise the amazing work that was carried out during the last two years of the pandemic by the Adult Social Care workforce within the city.

The shortlisted nominees and winners were:

Wolverhampton Cares Award - Carer


This award recognises the skills and empathy required to deliver true person centered care. Due to the amount of nominations for this award, we have split the award into winners for both residential and domiciliary.


Residential


  • Winner: Shevaunne, Bennett-Blair- Aspen Lodge Residential Care Home
  • Second Place: Julie Hamilton- Aldergrove Care Home
  • Third Place: Rachel Boden- Goldthorn Lodge Ltd


Domiciliary


  • Winner: Lynn Bermingham- Goldcrest Healthcare
  • Second Place: Gedi Gedi- Goldcrest Healthcare
  • Third Place: Audrey Katena- Vicarage Homecare Ltd

Wolverhampton Cares Award - Registered Manager


This award was presented to a Registered Manager who has demonstrated high levels of expertise and exception skills in managing complex businesses and teams


  • Winner: Aeon Anderson- African Caribbean Community Initiative - ACCI
  • Second Place: Balver Bisla- Aspen Lodge Residential Care Home & The Leylands Residential Care Home
  • Third Place: Laura Holland- Select Healthcare - The Coach House


Wolverhampton Cares Award - Deputy Manager/Senior/Team Leader


This award to recognise the importance have having good deputies to support the Registered Manager.


  • Winner: Jackie Smith- Wentworth Lodge Residential Home
  • Second Place: Lorna McKetty- Atiba House, Omari Housing (African Caribbean Community Initiative)
  • Third Place: Carol Shields- Forforte House

Wolverhampton Cares Award - Other Support Staff (Cooks, Garden Staff, Administrators, Activity Coordinators etc)


To recognise the contribution that non front line staff make to the care business and the quaility of service users care.

  • Second Place: Mandy Jones- Aspen Lodge Residential Care Home Third Place:
  • Linsey Mitchell- The Leylands Residential Care Home

Bonus Awards

Outstanding Contribution to Care Award


This award recognises someone who has influenced and shaped the care sector in Wolverhampton and continues to inspire.


Winner: Trisha Hayward - Inspirations Care Home


Special Award


This award recognises nominees that may not fit into any of the other categories, but their nomination stands out.


Winner: Yvette Solomon - City of Wolverhampton Council


Lucky Dip


This award was randomly selected out of all of the nominees
