Who is the course aimed at?
Anyone wanting to gain an essential workplace First Aid Qualification
What does the course cover?
Emergency First Aid at Work course outcomes.
- Assessed practical activities are marked *.
- Understand the role and responsibility of a First Aider.
- Be able to assess the scene of an incident.
- Be able to assess a casualty and identify the best treatment or source of further assistance.
- Be able to provide First Aid to an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally, including a practical demonstration of the recovery position*.
- Be able to manage a casualty who is in seizure.
- Be able to manage a casualty who is unresponsive and not breathing normally, including a practical demonstration of CPR* and the use of an AED* (defibrillator).
- Be able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking.
- Manage a casualty with external bleeding, including head wounds, embedded objects and catastrophic bleeding, with a practical demonstration of applying a dressing to a wound*.
- Manage a casualty who is in shock.
- Understand how to manage a casualty with a minor injury.
- Understand how to manage a casualty with minor burns and scalds.
