The WMCA 2026 Excellence in Care Awards are now open for nominations
These awards are open to all Care Association members and you have until Friday 31st July 2026 to nominate
Each winner receives an engraved trophy
and £500 in cash.
Anyone who nominates will also be entered in to a prize draw for one of 5 x £100 Amazon vouchers!

Please check the individual nomination form for nominating criteria. Organisations must be WMCA Members. Nominations received from non members will be rejected

Once you have completed the nomination form and submitted you will have the option to nominate someone else
You cannot nominate yourself, it has to be done by someone else
Categories Are:
Excellence in Care Award:
Carer
This award recognises the significant role of the Care Worker in consistently providing a high quality standard, for service users. Evidence of dedication, awareness of colleagues and career development through training will be important elements for the judges.
Excellence in Care Award:
Registered Manager
This award will be given to the Registered Manager who has demonstrated a high level of expertise together with exceptional skills in managing the complex business of running a care business. A Manager who shows vision in developing person centred care and supporting staff to meet the ever changing needs of the service users.
Excellence in Care Award:
Deputy Manager or Team Leader
This candidate has shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team. A person who has shown leadership qualities by reflecting on what could be better and supporting others to bring about change.

Excellence in Care Award:
Senior Carer
This candidate has shown clear commitment to improving the delivery of care and support within their team. A person who has shown leadership qualities by reflecting on what could be better and supporting others to bring about change.
Excellence in Care Award:
Activity Coordinator
This award will be given to Activity Coordinator who has demonstrated they can provide a ‘needs led’, varied and appropriate programme for care home residents. Organisers who show exceptional skills, creativity and responsibilities in arranging activities either alone or in conjunction with a senior.
Excellence in Care Award:
Domestic Staff (Cleaners, Cooks, Maintenance)
This award will recognise an excellent, person centred
service to clients, demonstrating dignity and respect through domestic services.Candidates should be able to provide examples of initiatives and excellence in their work and pride themselves on outstanding client feedback.
Excellence in Care Award:
Office Staff (HR, Admin, Receptionist)
Candidates can demonstrate evidence of providing excellent client facing services that supports the reputation and performance of the business.
Excellence in Care Award:
Director/Owner
This candidate can demonstrate how they have created an excellent work environment, where staff can flourish through the opportunities the business provides. Candidates can demonstrate how they have implemented a new idea that has improved the standard of care in their business.
Excellence in Care Award:
Newcomer
This award recognises a new member of staff who has joined the care sector within the last 12 months, either for the first time or after at least two years away. The nominee should demonstrate how they have transferred existing skills from volunteering, life experiences, or previous employment into their new role.
Excellence in Care Award:
Social Care Nurse
This award celebrates an exceptional nurse in social care who demonstrates compassion, innovation, and leadership. The recipient will be recognised for their dedication to improving lives, advocating for vulnerable individuals, and driving meaningful change.
Excellence in Care Award:
Dignity in Care
Award Sponsor: National Dignity Council
This special award is in the gift of the National Dignity Council and is for someone who treats individuals with respect and recognises their inherent worth, ensuring they feel valued and supported, regardless of their needs or circumstances. It's about recognising their individuality, honoring their choices, and maintaining their privacy and independence.

Excellence in Care Award:
Outstanding Contribution to Care
This special award is in the gift of the Association and is NOT open for nominations This will be awarded to a person who has made a long-term outstanding contribution to social care.
How to Enter:
- Entry is open to WMCA Members only
- Choose the Awards category or categories you wish to nominate someone for and read the judging criteria and rules carefully.
- Complete the online nomination form
- Entrants cannot nominate themselves and may be nominated by colleagues, managers, employers or service users/residents.
- We only need one nomination form per organisation
- All awards cover both residential and community support services who support vulnerable adults and children in the West Midlands Care Association Area (Herefordshire, Warwickshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire)
What Happens Next?
- Nominations will be shortlisted after the
closing date Friday 31 July 2026
- The awards will be judged by a panel of independent experts. The process will be facilitated by the West Midlands Care Association (WMCA) The panel will select the finalists and everyone will be notified by w/c 31st August 2026
- Prize draw winners will be notified by 13 August 2026
- A list of finalists will be posted on the WMCA website and Facebook Page.
- Individual finalists will be expected to attend the
Award Ceremony on
Friday 16th October 2026 from 6:30pm at the Copthorne Hotel, The Waterfront, Level Street, Brierley Hill DY5 1UR
- Winners will receive an engraved award and £500 cash prize. All finalists will receive a certificate
- The judges decision is final

When can I buy tickets?
Tickets will be available after all the shortlisted nominees have been informed (w/c 31 AUgust 2026)
If you want to book a table, they seat up to a maximum of 10 people
(Please note, if you are booking places to support a colleague who has been nominated, they have already received 2 free tickets so please take this into consideration when you book)
