The Proud to Care Careers Roadshow took place last week at the Woodlands Campus in Smiths Wood, Solihull, in partnership with Solihull College & University Centre!

This time we had 15 adult social care providers exhibit, advertising various roles such as carers, admin, Activity Coordinator roles and students and the wider public attended throughout the day.

This was the fifth Roadshow event, where we are supporting care providers to fill their job vacancies and promote a career in care to students and the wider public.

We have engaged with approximately 150 candidates across the 5 events and have covered Birmingham, Solihull, Sandwell, Wolverhampton and Dudley so far!

Through working with each college in these areas, we have been able to provide the platform for a variety of pathways into a career in care, for candidates that attended, while ensuring care providers increase their vacancies exposure.

Here are some quotes from care providers from previous events:-

"I am pleased to inform you that we have made significant progress since the job fair. The interviews we scheduled with the talented individuals we met at the fair have been quite successful. We are impressed by the calibre of candidates we encountered, and we believe that our team has found a suitable match."

“Our engagement with the candidates we met at the job fair does not end with this single hire. We have established ongoing communication with some of the other applicants who displayed immense potential. While we may not have immediate openings for them at present, we recognize their talent and have expressed our interest in keeping in touch for future opportunities. This allows us to maintain a valuable network of professionals who could potentially fill positions in our company down the line".

Our next Proud to Care Careers Roadshow will take place on 21st February at Solihull College (Blossomfield Campus) - keep an eye on our website and newsletter for further details.

Published July 2025 (data correct as at 2024/25) Skills for Care have launched their annual report on the size and structure of ythe care workforce This provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the size and structure of the adult social care sector and workforce in England. A short, written report is available: download a copy of the report here. The methodology for this year’s report has changed from previous years. Adult social care related roles employed by the NHS are no longer included in the headline statistics for the size of the adult social care workforce. This change has been applied retrospectively to previous years, so the trends in this report are consistent. Comparing figures from this report to previous reports will not produce a valid trend. Also, our estimates for the number of filled posts in the independent sector now come from our automated data pipeline. This has resulted in substantial improvements to our estimates over time and some figures have changed as a result from previous versions of this report. For further information, see our statement. To download the data behind the visualisation below, including trended information, please see the Workforce estimates page.
