Introducing Ally Cares - meet them at our Autumn Cyber Summit on 3rd October

Ally is the UK’s leading evidence-based Resident Monitoring System helping care homes transform residents' lives by capturing unobserved care needs when residents are alone in their rooms.

Ally uses sound and motion to capture unobserved care needs, enabling care homes to identify such things as when they are in pain, discomfort, calling for assistance, moving confused or distressed. As well as tracking insights like sleep patterns, coughing, agitation and night-time routines.

These alerts and insights help care homes, prevent and detect falls, catch chest infections and UTIs earlier, promote better sleep and privacy and optimise the care plan. Ultimately transforming your resident's health and wellbeing whilst giving staff more time to care.

Research conducted with NHS TD and ICBs shows that care homes using Ally have reduced bedroom falls by 63%, cut hospital visits by 56%, improved residents’ sleep by 50%, and given carers 30% more time to care.

Introducing Marie Hawkes-Smith:

Marie is one of the Business Development Managers at Ally Cares, bringing over 20 years of experience in the social care sector. Her journey began in care recruitment and then she transitioned into business development roles within the care sector working with PCS for five years before joining Ally Cares in August 2023.

Passionate about improving care outcomes, Marie’s role at Ally Cares focuses on building relationships with customers to help them understand how to leverage Ally’s AI technology to enhance resident well-being and support care teams. Her deep understanding of the sector drives her commitment to making a positive impact on care homes.

At the WMCA Cyber Summit, Marie will be delivering a presentation introducing Sensor Based Falls Prevention technology - what it is, why it’s important and how it can benefit staff, residents and your wider business plus what funding is available to support implementing this.

Published July 2025 (data correct as at 2024/25) Skills for Care have launched their annual report on the size and structure of ythe care workforce This provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the size and structure of the adult social care sector and workforce in England. A short, written report is available: download a copy of the report here. The methodology for this year’s report has changed from previous years. Adult social care related roles employed by the NHS are no longer included in the headline statistics for the size of the adult social care workforce. This change has been applied retrospectively to previous years, so the trends in this report are consistent. Comparing figures from this report to previous reports will not produce a valid trend. Also, our estimates for the number of filled posts in the independent sector now come from our automated data pipeline. This has resulted in substantial improvements to our estimates over time and some figures have changed as a result from previous versions of this report. For further information, see our statement. To download the data behind the visualisation below, including trended information, please see the Workforce estimates page.
