Skills for Care has been working in partnership with the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) on the development of a Workforce Strategy for Care.

"For the first time ever, the adult social care sector has come together, led by Skills for Care, to develop the Workforce Strategy it needs. Adult social care needs a workforce strategy to ensure we have enough of the right people with the right skills to provide the best possible care and support for the people who draw on it".

The pathway outlines the knowledge, skills, values and behaviours expected in different unregulated roles and career points and provides clear pathways for development and progression across the workforce.

The current phase of development focuses on new role categories to cover deputy managers, registered managers, personal assistants and enhanced care worker roles.
