The Care Provider Alliance  issued a statement on 5th July 2024 congratulating Labour on their General Election victory and stating that they "are ready to work with Labour for fair pay and social care reform."

The statement says:-

"We are eager to collaborate with the new government to amplify opportunities and tackle challenges in social care. For years, the Care Provider Alliance has campaigned for better pay and terms and conditions of employment for care workers as part of wider reform. We support Labour's plans to improve recruitment, retention, and training standards. We also encourage the swift implementation of a dedicated and funded workforce strategy.

We're ready to work with the government, unions, and others to ensure fair pay and better working conditions for our essential skilled workforce. The focus for this vital work must be on benefiting care workers and those they support, and ensuring sustainability of care providers.

Achieving meaningful reform will require a collective effort. Outstanding commissioning and regulation supports outstanding care delivery. There must also be capacity to innovate and develop services better to meet the needs of those drawing on care now and in the future. Underpinning any of this ambition has to be adequate government investment and recognition of the urgency of change. We offer our expertise and on-the-ground insights to help shape effective policies.

We look forward to productive discussions with the new government to build a National Care Service that meets the needs of those who rely on it and those who work within it.

Chair of the Care Provider Alliance, Dr Jane Townson OBE, said:

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. Labour's election win sets us off on an alternative route in care and the first signpost is to fairer pay. Our sector's knowledge and experience will be key in charting a course beyond this to wider reform which is achievable and ambitious. Together, we can build a National Care Service which meets the needs of those needing and giving care."
