CQC's new provider portal will be available for everyone soon.

Between now and March 2024 CQC are making changes to the way providers interact with them. They're Introducing a range of new and improved digital services to give providers a faster, easier and streamlined way to share information with them, including a new provider portal.

The new portal will offer a better experience when submitting statutory notifications and completing some registration actions.

CQC have started inviting users of their existing portal to join the new portal and will invite all existing users by the end of February 2024. If you've received an invite to join the new portal, sign up now without delay.

At the moment, only those who have been invited can join the new portal. But from the start of March 2024 any provider can register on the new portal and set up their account.

Here's what to do to get ready for these changes:

  • Make sure all the contact details held by CQC for your organisation are correct (you'll need to sign up to the new portal using an email address they have on record)
  • Watch the introduction to CQC's new provider portal
  • As soon as you receive an invite, sign up to their new portal
  • If you don't receive an invite to the new portal, sign up as soon as you can from the start of March 2024.

Find out more about CQC's new provider portal.

At the end of February 2024, CQC's existing provider portal will become read-only. That means you won't be able to use the portal to make changes or send them new information. You will still be able to access and download your saved data until the end of March 2024.

Please note that existing accounts on CQC's current portal will not be automatically transferred to the new provider portal. This means action is required on your part as indicated above.

Visit the existing provider portal to download your saved data.

Published July 2025 (data correct as at 2024/25) Skills for Care have launched their annual report on the size and structure of ythe care workforce This provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the size and structure of the adult social care sector and workforce in England. A short, written report is available: download a copy of the report here. The methodology for this year’s report has changed from previous years. Adult social care related roles employed by the NHS are no longer included in the headline statistics for the size of the adult social care workforce. This change has been applied retrospectively to previous years, so the trends in this report are consistent. Comparing figures from this report to previous reports will not produce a valid trend. Also, our estimates for the number of filled posts in the independent sector now come from our automated data pipeline. This has resulted in substantial improvements to our estimates over time and some figures have changed as a result from previous versions of this report. For further information, see our statement. To download the data behind the visualisation below, including trended information, please see the Workforce estimates page.
