Stage 1: Expressions of Interest
If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, you will need to complete an Expression of Interest (EOI) for each CQC registered site in the City of Birmingham and Solihull MBC that you would like to implement
The EOI is a simple online form and does not constitute a commitment from yourselves or the local authorities but kickstarts the funding process
West Midlands Care Association are managing the process on behalf of Birmingham City Council, Solihull MBC Birmingham and Solihull ICB
What funding is available?
50% uncapped funding is available to registered CQC care providers, to meet the year one implementation costs of a DSCR system only and the provider must:
Identify a DSCR supplier from the Assured Solutions List
This funding cannot be used to purchase systems from any other supplier that is not on the Assured Solutions list
The funding cannot be used for any Infrastructure, connectivity, or computer equipment (laptops etc) associated with the implementation of your chosen DSCR.
The funding may be used for the purchase of portable devices needed solely for the implementation of your DSCR subject to funding restrictions
Any adult social care CQC registered provider within Birmingham’s Local Authority’s footprint can apply for funding providing they meet the following criteria:
The Expression of Interest does not constitute an offer of funding. Funding can only be claimed once an EOI has been completed and acknowledged by the West Midlands Care Association, acting on behalf of Birmingham City Council, Solihull MBC and Birmingham and Solihull ICB. Details of how to complete your claim for funding will be communicated to you when your EOI is confirmed
Once your Expression of Interest has been submitted and acknowledged you can then submit your claim

The Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
Having Digital Social Care Records will transform the way you provide care but it does mean that your data protection policies and procedures need to be robust
One of the ways you can do this is by completing the Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT)
The Data Security and Protection Tool Kit (DSPT) is an Online Assessment which all Care Providers who work with and access NHS patient data and systems (including NHS Mail) must complete annually.
It is a condition of accessing the DIgital Transformation Fund that you have successfully completed the DSPT to Standards Met level
The tool kit covers such areas as your privacy and data protection policies, how you store and backup data, how you secure mobile devices, business continuity in the event of a cyber incident and how you manage your IT security and support.
Successful completion of the DSPT is also a requirement to access NHS Mail and Proxy Access,
The West Midlands Care Association is part of a FREE national program - Better Security Better Care - to assist all CQC registered care providers with this.
