Providers Unite Success
Hundreds of Care Providers from all over the country took part in Providers Unite national protest in London yesterday (Tuesday 25th February). They were protesting against tax rises and a funding shortfall affecting the sector calling for more support from the government to help care homes deal with the rise in both the living wage and contribution rate for employers' National Insurance, which were announced by the government in their budget in October 2024.
Katrina Hall, Director of Bay Care Group and organister of the #Providers Unite event posted on LinkedIn
"At last, some real recognition that social care cannot keep shouldering the burden of constant cost increases while being systematically underfunded. The Lords have voted to exempt health and social care from the National Insurance hike a decision that shows they understand the crisis our sector is facing.
Now, all eyes are on the Commons. Will they wake up and see sense too?
We are not asking for anything unreasonable.
We are not looking for handouts.
We are simply demanding fairness, a system that allows social care to survive, thrive, and continue delivering vital care to millions across the UK.
MPs have a choice:
🚨 Back social care and protect the people who rely on it.
🚨 Or ignore reality and watch the system collapse on their watch.
The Lords have done their part. Now, it’s time for the Commons to step up and do the right thing."
