Winner of Pimp my Zimmer Competition 2024 - Woodlands Quaker Home

Huge congratulations to Woodlands Quaker Home in Wolverhampton as the worthy winner of our ever popular Pimp my Zimmer Competition.

Zimmer Frames are a part of life for many older people but sometimes - particularly if they have dementia - they don't like using them as they cannot associate with them.

Research has shown that you can encourage your residents and service users to use their Zimmer Frame by decorating them with items or a theme that means something to them.

Beverley Price, Registered Manager at Woodlands Quaker Home, said all the zimmer frames "were decorated as part of [the residents'] morning activities and each one represented the jobs and the lives of the people who have made them."

There was an amazing array of decorated frames including a submarine and a tank for residents who had served in the Armed Forces. There was even one representing Crufts made by a resident who was formerly a judge at the show and had also written a book about dog training.

Beverley was delighted to receive their prize of a luxury hamper containing lots of goodies for both staff and residents.

Runner-up Certificates are also awarded to Belvidere Court Nursing Home in Wolverhampton and Field House Care Home in Stourbridge.

Published July 2025 (data correct as at 2024/25) Skills for Care have launched their annual report on the size and structure of ythe care workforce This provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the size and structure of the adult social care sector and workforce in England. A short, written report is available: download a copy of the report here. The methodology for this year’s report has changed from previous years. Adult social care related roles employed by the NHS are no longer included in the headline statistics for the size of the adult social care workforce. This change has been applied retrospectively to previous years, so the trends in this report are consistent. Comparing figures from this report to previous reports will not produce a valid trend. Also, our estimates for the number of filled posts in the independent sector now come from our automated data pipeline. This has resulted in substantial improvements to our estimates over time and some figures have changed as a result from previous versions of this report. For further information, see our statement. To download the data behind the visualisation below, including trended information, please see the Workforce estimates page.
