Our Chief Executive, Keiron Broadbent, welcomed everybody at the start of the event, alongside co-chair, Shirley Way, Head of Midlands Area, from Skills for Care.

Keiron gave the audience a series of WMCA updates and reminded them that the deadline for them to submit their DSPT, is the end of June.

Keiron also reminded providers how they can access free support from the Association to complete this toolkit before the deadline here.

Saima Ali - Care Quality Commission (CQC)

The day began with our keynote speaker, Saima Ali, from CQC, taking our attendees through what CQC are looking for within the Responsive quality statement.

Saima also took questions from the audience around the assessment framework and PIR.

Sarah McCormack- Delphi Care Solutions

The second session of the day brought us to Sarah McCormack, Business Development Manager, from Delphi Care Solutions.

Sarah shared some inspiring stories of care providers they had supported to meet the ‘Responsive’ quality statement and warnings around examples of those who hadn’t.

Sarah also engaged with the audience, asking them for examples of how they met the quality statement.

Sarah, then finished with demonstrating a ‘Responsive’ checklist tool that care providers could use to implement improvement within their service.

Registered Managers Panel Discussion

After lunch, the managers then split into separate residential and domiciliary care breakout rooms where the managers selected for the panels shared their experiences of implementing the ‘Responsive’ Quality Statement in their service

Each manager on the panel shared tips and tricks for the audience to use to enhance their service and we were very grateful for their participation in the Q & A session delivered by Keiron and Shirley.

Skills for Care Workshops

The two workshops then continued with two Skills for Care workshops around ensuring ‘Responsiveness’ is delivered throughout services.

Suzanne Petrie (pictured), Locality Manager for the Black Country, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent delivered the Domiciliary Care workshop in the 1888 suite.

Published July 2025 (data correct as at 2024/25) Skills for Care have launched their annual report on the size and structure of ythe care workforce This provides the most up-to-date and comprehensive overview of the size and structure of the adult social care sector and workforce in England. A short, written report is available: download a copy of the report here. The methodology for this year’s report has changed from previous years. Adult social care related roles employed by the NHS are no longer included in the headline statistics for the size of the adult social care workforce. This change has been applied retrospectively to previous years, so the trends in this report are consistent. Comparing figures from this report to previous reports will not produce a valid trend. Also, our estimates for the number of filled posts in the independent sector now come from our automated data pipeline. This has resulted in substantial improvements to our estimates over time and some figures have changed as a result from previous versions of this report. For further information, see our statement. To download the data behind the visualisation below, including trended information, please see the Workforce estimates page.
