Accessibility features
21 April 2026
3.00pm - 4.00pm
Online
We are running webinars that go into depth on some key aspects of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit (DSPT) -not about completing the toolkit itself.
These practical webinar support adult social care providers to strengthen digital confidence while ensuring information remains accessible, inclusive, and compliant with data protection requirements.
These sessions explore how effective use of digital tools can enhance both care delivery and information governance—key components of meeting DSPT standards.
Delivered in two complementary parts, the webinars focus on practical, real-world applications.
Part 1: Using built-in accessibility features to improve communication
Discover how to make better use of built-in accessibility tools across everyday devices and systems. Learn simple adjustments that can significantly improve access to information and communication for people drawing on care, including:
- Speech-to-text and text-to-speech tools
- Creating clear, user-friendly Easy Read content
- Customising device settings such as text size, contrast, and display
- Using voice-controlled technologies (e.g. smart assistants) to support daily tasks
- Exploring accessibility features within widely used platforms such as iOS, Android, and Windows
We will also introduce the Accessible Information Standard (AIS), which requires all providers of NHS and publicly funded adult social care to:
- Identify people’s information and communication needs
- Record and flag those needs clearly
- Share information appropriately
- Provide information in accessible formats and support communication
By the end of this webinar, participants will better understand how improving accessibility not only enhances person-centred care, but also supports compliance with DSPT requirements around data handling, communication, and information sharing.
