Good Work & Healthy SMEs
17 June 2026
10.00am - 4.00pm

Venue:
West Midlands Combined Authority
16 Summer Lane

We are inviting a select group of organisations to take part in a focused event exploring what Good Work means in practice: for people, for businesses, and for a stronger, more inclusive economy.
This is an opportunity to hear directly from West Midlands Mayor Richard Parker on how he sees workforce wellbeing and economic resilience going hand in hand, and to contribute to the national Keep Britain Working review (led by Sir Charlie Mayfield)[1]. We have secured the Mayfield team to run a workshop on the day, giving you the opportunity to bring in the voice of SMEs, particularly from across the care sector, where we know there are significant challenges in recruitment, retention and wider workforce wellbeing.
Following a session sharing local residents’ experiences of work, we will bring you centre stage to explore what Good Work and workforce wellbeing mean in practice for your organisation – the challenges you are facing, where support is needed, and what would genuinely make a difference.
Practical details:
- Registration will begin at 09:45 for a prompt start at 10:00 (aiming to close by 3pm)
- Lunch and refreshments will be provided; please let us know any access or dietary requirements (using this link)
- Further agenda details will be shared closer to the date
No parking is available at the West Midlands Combined Authority [16 Summer Lane, Birmingham B19 3SD] however we are close to Snow Hill station, bus links and a range of car parks.
We very much hope you can join us for this important day of listening, reflection, and action.
