Briefing Note: Regulation 9a of the Health and Social Care Act 2008
Following on from our 21st April members email titled 'Escorting Residents and Service Users to Hospital - Updated Guidance' where several challenges were highlighted, including:
- Insurance limitations, where providers may not be covered for staff to escort individuals to hospital.
- Staffing pressures, as releasing a team member can leave services short‑staffed and potentially unsafe
HCR have kindly created downloadable comms for our members to cover the following subjects in more detail:
- Regulation 9A(2)(b): Visits out of the care home
- Regulation 9A(2)(c): Accompaniment to hospital or hospice
- Ambulance crew demands and safeguarding referrals
- Mental capacity
- Staffing considerations
- CQC expectations
This was emailed out to our members 7/5/26 and can be found in the newsletter archive
