Managing Digital Risk:

How to use and share information appropriately

3. Data Security

2 September 2026

10.00am - 10.45am

Online

Welcome to this new series of four workshops - delivered by the West Midlands Care Association - that together address all of the policies, processes and procedures that you need to have in place to adequately secure your data protecting the individuals you support and your staff. They are closely mapped to the Data Security Protection Toolkit (DSPT). Attending these workshops will give you the necessary knowledge to complete the toolkit

Workshop 3: Data Security

Technology has changed the way you work and how we work together. Sharing data digitally and communicating with others remotely are just a couple of examples of how we now use technology in social care. As we continue to use technology in this way, we must do it safely and put steps in place to reduce the risk and impact of a data breach or cyber attack.

In this webinar, we will take you through some basic aspects of data security including how to recognise and respond to a data breach or identify a potential cyber threat before it happens. And we’ll have a look at a couple of key documents and procedures that you need to have in place, that is your business continuity plan and a data asset register

At the end of the session, we’ll address any questions you have and summarise next steps.

Workshop B
