AI in Adult Social Care: Opportunities, Hidden Risks and Safe Management

FREE I hour Introduction

3 September 2026

11.00am - 12.00pm

Online

Cost : FREE to CQC registered providers

This practical 1-hour briefing is designed for Registered Managers, Deputies, Seniors, and provider leaders in adult social care. It explores where AI is already beginning to appear in care services, where it may offer genuine benefits, and where hidden risks are beginning to emerge.

The session looks at the opportunity side of AI, including reducing admin burden, supporting low-risk drafting tasks, helping managers organise information more efficiently, and tightening the wording and structure of internal policies and procedures.

It also highlights the hidden risks, particularly around care notes, confidentiality, inaccurate or over-smoothed wording, over-reliance on AI instead of professional judgement, and the danger of weak governance before managers even realise staff are using these tools.

A key spotlight within the session looks at why staff must not use public chatbots for real client care notes, where things can go wrong, and what managers need to do now to create safer boundaries, guidance, and oversight in their service.

Learning outcomes:

By the end of the briefing, learners will be able to:

  • identify where AI is already appearing in adult social care services
  • recognise practical opportunities, including admin reduction and support with internal documents and workflows
  • recognise hidden risks, especially around care notes, confidentiality, accuracy, and over-reliance
  • explain why public chatbots should not be used for real client documentation
  • identify the first management steps needed to create safer boundaries around AI use in their service
